The idea behind the method is to ask subject&#8217;s perceptions of inkblots, and then analyze their responses. This is very similar to what happens in the modern workplace. Problems are presented as &#8220;inkblots,&#8221; meaning, they are vague, and even nonsensical. But a non-reponse is often not an option. You <em>have<\/em> to say or do something. And when you say or do something, it is immediately interpreted, judged, ridiculed, applauded, rejected, or accepted.<\/p>\n<p>This can be very unnerving to the inexperienced. A possible reason for the discomfort: the rules are unclear! The organization culture has no on boarding process, induction is a &#8220;trial by fire&#8221; and &#8220;sink or swim.&#8221; Those who can adapt and adopt the norms do well. Others have to withdraw, often wounded and bruised.<\/p>\n<p>There are two implications of this. If an organization does not have an on boarding process, <em>you need to create one for yourself<\/em>. That is the premise of the <a title=\"The First 90 Days\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1422188612\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1422188612&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=stratexecuins-20\" target=\"_blank\">book<\/a> written by Michael Watkins. Don&#8217;t show up to a new place of work and act like a <a title=\"Babes in the wood\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Babes_in_the_Wood\" target=\"_blank\">babe in the woods<\/a>! You don&#8217;t need a new job to apply the lessons, pretend tomorrow is the first day in your current job and start over, no one will notice.<\/p>\n<p>The second implication of this is for you to get used to the idea that you are taking a Rorschach test every time you say or do something.
