What is a fly-by-night character?

Someone who is always looking for quick wins. Someone who will sacrifice the long term for the short term. Someone who will change their story, sometimes on the spot, to suit their purpose. Someone whose stand in life is tied to how they can benefit in the moment. Someone who is skilled in the art of spin and storytelling. Such people are clearly not here for the long term.

The reasons for such behavior could be poor values, fears, and phobias. Your first step is to recognize such people. Regardless of the motive, your next step is to protect yourself. You have to make the call on whether to comply or resist to a fly-by-night decision or plan. Make your choice with awareness. Don’t confuse a short-term practical course of action with fly-by-night tactics.

It is safe to assume you are not a fly-by-night character, right?
